The Importance of Skincare

In contrast, to what magazines, ads, and social pressures are for modern women today; gorgeous skin is developed within a consistent skincare routine not your makeup application.

Natural is beautiful.

No matter what age you are, caring for your skin morning and night, lays the foundation for everything else to build upon.  Even though makeup can be a beautiful art form, makeup should be a natural enhancement to what you already obtain.

I have a lot of women come to me wanting to begin a skincare routine and I find out more times than not, they don’t even wash their faces. I tell them all the same thing.

Your skin should be treated as if it’s your baby, gentle with a lot of care and attention.

Your skin is the largest organ in your body, made up of three layers of connective tissues. Your skin is always in a cycle of breathing, needing to hydrate, naturally creating oils, and shedding old skin cells for the new fresh skin to the surface. Even if you don’t wear makeup, you are exposed to air pollution and other environmental toxins daily that need to be removed from your skin. Removing the toxins allows your skin to properly breathe.

With natural aging, your skin begins losing elasticity around the age of 25 and gradually changes over time. Therefore, your skincare routine should be evolving too.

Great skincare products help protect, nourish, hydrate, and enhance your skin for that natural glow every woman desires.

Great skin doesn’t happen overnight. It’s the result of dedication, time, and money. Think of it as your personal investment, it’s something that will stay with you, your entire life. The sooner you start developing a consistent skincare routine, the better your skin will look while facing the inevitable aging process.

My personal skincare journey started with the essentials: cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen. Over time this has evolved through experience, recommendations, discovery, and curiosity.

Personally, I have very sensitive skin. Over the years, I have dealt with hormonal breakouts, hairline pimples (from curly hair products), rashes, and to be completely transparent even the occasional neck pimple (yuck!) This was before I learned your neck needs to be a part of the facial cleansing process, not just a shower cleanse. Through trial and error, natural products feel and work best for me. The majority of my routine is all Natural, Cruelty-Free, and Vegan ingredients. Again, not opposed to others – just what my skin reacts to best.

Maybe you’re ready to fully immerse yourself into the skincare world, below is a website I have loved using to discover new products. is a great resource to use, to establish a personalized skincare routine with a skin goal in mind. They provide a very detailed-oriented survey that is completely FREE.

Haldi offers a variety of product lines you might not have necessarily heard of, or even discovered on your own. The price ranges vary, so you can stay within your means. And the best part of it all,  they allow you to select what is important to you; Natural ingredients only, Vegan, Cruelty-Free, Gluten-Free, Travel friendly, Pregnancy or breastfeeding safe, or if you are good with whatever it’s all there for you to choose between.

My daily routine consists of these items:

Tata Harper Clarifying Cleanser – A refreshing foaming gel cleanser that targets impurities and balances your natural oils. Apply to dry skin and activate the foam with 2-3 minutes of massaging. It leaves my skin so clear and feeling matte and tight. Anything Tata Harper creates is blissful on the skin. Have you seen her skin? OMG!! She is skin goals!!

Mara Algae Enzyme Cleansing Oil – This Algae Enzyme Oil Cleanser is a delicious-smelling exfoliant. It softens, brightens, and smooths with its active ingredients. Exfoliating in the morning works best for my skin, leaving a fresh glow to start the day. Oil cleansers are my favorite. They are to be applied to dry skin. A little goes a long way, a dime size covers my face. This European brand is new, to me, I discovered Maya through Haldi’s website. Excited to try more of their products, in the future.

Aveda Botanical Kinetics Purifying Gel Cleanser – This calming gel cleanser is a great everyday cleanser. Natural and gentle on the skin. I grab this cleanser the most out of my others.

Aveda Botanical Kinetics Skin Toning Agent – This toner is the bomb! Definitely, a must-have in my book. Leaves my skin so hydrated. And has evened out my skin completion tremendously.

Asterwood Natural Vitamin C Serum – Vitamin C is an antioxidant that protects your skin from UV lighting while brightening and tightening your complexion. A Vitamin C application lasts 24 hours, so you only need this in your morning routine. (fun fact I learned through Haldi’s website!) I started using this for sunspots and to brighten underneath my eyes. This product was a game-changer for my face. And best of all, it’s extremely affordable!

Asterwood Naturals Hyaluronic Acid Serum –  Hyaluronic Acid is a big drink of water to your skin. Bringing moisture to the surface – reducing fine lines, tightening, smoothing, and regenerating skin cells. This is another Amazon find that’s been extremely beneficial to my skincare routine. And again, extremely affordable! To get the best activation when applying any Hyaluronic Acid- make sure your pores are open and your skin is damp, this anti-aging acid penetrates deeper and will need to be sealed off immediately with your moisturizer to get the most out of your product.

EVER Youthful Quattro Peptide Face and Eye Serum– I refer to this product as botox in a bottle. Love, love, love this product. Age- defying formula that firms and moisturizes skin.

EVER Daylight Radiance Tinted Moisturizer SPF 32– I love this product, adds color and contains the recommended SPF needed for the day. And smells lovely!

Tata Harper Regenerating Cleanser  – Your skin is always shedding naturally, an exfoliator helps this process and gets the nitty-gritty off from your day. I don’t use this every day, only 2-3 times per week.

Tata Harper Purifying Cleanser – Yes, double cleansing is for the best results – the first cleanse takes off any products, makeup, or environmental toxins you’ve acquired throughout the day. Second, should be using your exfoliator or purifying cleanser for a deep clean. (Only exfoliate max twice a week.)

Asherwood Naturals Hyaluronic Acid Serum  – To get the best activation when applying any Hyaluronic Acid- make sure your pore are open and your skin is damp, this anti-aging acid penetrates deeper and then seal it off immediately with your moisture to get the most out of your products)

Aveda Botanical Kinetics Skin Toning Agent – This toner is the bomb! Definitely, a must-have in my book. Leaves my skin so hydrated. And has evened out my skin completion tremendously.

Retinol – I use perspiration retinol. But would gladly help you find a suitable one for your skin.

 Home Masks

EVER Purify Deep Clean Detox Mask – my ALL-TIME favorite mask! Leaves my skin feeling incredibly tight, vibrant, smooth, and fresh.

EVER Glowify Brightening Metallic Mask – I love doing this one in the mornings before an important day – with a triple mint formula; it’s incredibly cooling, refreshing while brightening and tightening while leaving your skin with an extra peep in its step.

Other contributions that care for your skin, but you might not realize help.

  • SLIP Silk pillowcases – real silk is extremely pricey! Look for 22 or 25 Momme silk, this is high-quality silk – the company of your choice should have that in the description to verify the silk density count) Silk doesn’t hold moisture – therefore your products gradually soak into your skin throughout the night like they are designed to do – unlike cotton and linen which soak it up faster than you can apply.
  • Dermaplaning (if you choose to do them at-home method I share – PLEASE watch a Youtube video on how to do this yourself!!! Also, be careful around your eyebrows!!!) Dermaplaning has been a game-changer for my routine and the look of my complexion – I do this once a month on a Saturday/Sunday where I won’t be putting on makeup or products afterward – NO products within 12 hrs or you’ll run the risk of burning your skin.
  • Steam – I love my facial steamer.  I use mine during my nightly routine – 2 times a week – make sure you don’t use too excessively – it will dry out your face
  • Gua Sha Tool Stimulates the layers of your facial skin, reducing puffiness, encouraging anti-aging, promotes the release of toxins through lymphatic drainage, with an instant natural facelift
  • Regular Facials – Pricey but beneficial and just relaxing
  • Masks -Try to do a mask once a month
  • A goodnight’s rest
  • Drinking plenty of water
  • Daily exercise – Yoga, barre, step, dance, running, walking.. whatever it might be just move
  • Detoxing – Cleansing or Detox : Yogi detox tea is a fav of mine and can be found in most grocery stores
  • Proper Nutrition
  • Minimal sugar intake
  • No smoking
  • No alcohol or drugs

Lastly, enhance your beauty with Botox, Filler, and procedures if that’s what you truly desire.

Build up that confidence Darling!

But do I believe it’s the solution? Never.

What you allow your heart to believe about yourself will far outshine any routine, application, and/or procedure.

You’re beautiful the way you are!
