Spicy Ahi Tuna Bowl

Living a healthy lifestyle becomes effortless when you are familiar with the direction you should follow. The preparation of nutritious meals is just as quick and easy as eating fast food, for sure faster than your Chick-fil-A line on a Saturday. A delicious nourishing recipe can be achieved by using whole foods in combination with simplistic additive ingredients to create the desired taste.

As a lover of sushi and sushi bowls, I was tired of paying outrageous prices, weekly, for one bowl. My intention was to purchase the ingredients and create a healthier version of my favorite bowl for half the price and be able to enjoy multiple servings.

The simplicity, ease, and deliciousness of sushi bowls makes them an excellent choice for weekly meal preparation or as a weekday meal on the go. As for optimal taste throughout the week, ensure your storage is made of glass and sufficiently seals. W & P is a household favorite for safe glass food storage.

Ingredients

Protein and Sauce

  • 2 Fresh sushi- grade Ahi Tuna  ( the best quality and deal I have found is at Costco )
  • 2 tablespoons of Chobani Greek Low- Fat Plain yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon of Sriracha ( makes for a medium spice level )
  • 1 pinch of minced garlic
  • 5-7 drops of Pure Sesame Seed Oil
  • 1 teaspoon of onion powder

Base and Toppings

  • 1 bag of steamed Jasmine Rice
  • 1/4 Green Onion bunch
  • 1/4 Sweet Onions
  • 1/2 cup of Edamame
  • 1 Lime
  • A pinch of pickled Ginger
  • Masago ( I always ask the sushi counter in the grocery store)
  • Sprinkle of Trader Joe’s Everything Bagel Seasoning

Directions

1. Cut the Ahi Tuna into cube bite sizes and mix protein together with the sauce and store in a glass container in the fridge. The Ahi Tuna will be fresh and best served four days maximum after preparation.

2. When ready to serve, steam the bag of jasmine rice, remove prepared Ahi Tuna from fridge and add on top of the rice, and add the desired toppings.
