Good Morning Beautiful (Skin)
How was your night?
Have you ever woken up to realize all the expensive skincare products you religiously applied the night prior are still present? You’re not alone.
In an ideal world, all the expensive skincare products we applied the night prior would completely penetrate the epidermis ( the superficial layer ) of the skin throughout a restful night’s sleep. Whether you’re using creams, moisturizers, or serums each product won’t absorb fully; remaining present on the skin’s surface till the morning.
Our skin has three layers, the epidermis, dermis, and subcutaneous. The epidermis is the first layer and contains five layers itself.
The main goal with skincare is to penetrate any of these five layers.
But realistically they don’t.
Compared to cotton which will soak in your products, using a silk pillowcase will help promote the natural penetration of your products tremendously. But by morning, a portion of your products will always be present.
Now, has anyone ever told you to wash your face first thing in the morning?
By washing your face, you’re removing the remaining products and eliminating any bacteria on your skin collected throughout the previous night. (Yucky, right?) This allows your skin to open up and breathe. This prevents any future clogged pores – leading to dreadful breakouts.
The more we know, the better we can be.
For sensitive skin, depending on what my skin is telling me it needs, I fluctuate between these products in the morning.
